Performing Arts

Performing Arts has been busy celebrating Chinese New Year! Students across all year levels have been singing, exploring, and creating music inspired by the theme of Lunar New Year. Our students shared their knowledge and personal experiences of this special festival and the many traditions it includes.

Our senior students put their skills to work by composing original rhythm patterns and combining words to create their own Rhythm Raps. Meanwhile, students in Grades 1 and 2 learned a Chinese New Year song and worked with their peers to choreograph and perform a dance. Their performances incorporated movements inspired by traditional Chinese Dragon and Lion dances.

Classes also explored traditional Chinese music and saw how dancers use fans and fabric

 to form beautiful shapes through movement.
