Flying High in Year Five

Our Year 5 students are very proud of their handwriting.
They have worked hard to earn their pen licences, which are only awarded when letters are consistently joined correctly and pages are ruled carefully. Students hope that you enjoy this slideshow, which shows a tiny snapshot of the care they put into their work presentation.
Handwriting is valued in all year levels at St Peter's. From Prep, students focus on correct letter formation, moving to learning all joins in Year 3, joining in Year 4 and graduating to using a pen in Year 5.
We think you'll be amazed by how unique and impressive each child's style is!
In this digital age, writing by hand is still very important and can’t be fully replaced by typing on a keyboard.
Writing by hand involves different areas of the brain responsible for thinking, language and memory.
Proficiency in handwriting can have a profound impact on a child’s confidence and self-esteem. As children master the ability to write clearly and neatly, they often feel more confident in their academic skills and are more eager to participate in classroom activities.
