Japan Trip 2024
On Thursday 19 September, a group of 16 Year 9, 10 and 11 Girton students departed Australia for a two-week tour of Japan. They will visit Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto and Osaka. Following the tour, they will spend six days visiting our sister school, Gojo High, where they will attend classes with their Japanese host students. This trip is the first visit back to our sister school since the COVID-19 pandemic and the 30th anniversary of this unique relationship between Gojo and Girton. We wish the students and staff all the best on their travels!
Footy Colours Day
Students and staff alike joined in to celebrate this year's Footy Colours Day, which raised much-needed funds for cancer research. Alongside wearing their team colours, Year 12 students and staff went head-to-head in the annual Staff vs Student Basketball Game.
Girton Preservation Club
As we commemorate the 140th anniversary of Girton, the Girton Preservation Club is eager to welcome new members to help us celebrate our rich history. Under the guidance of Ms Lynden Francis-Wright – a former student and daughter of one of our founding members – we’ve been meticulously scanning copies of The Girtonian from the 1920s and beyond, ensuring these treasures are preserved for future generations.
We’re also putting together a documentary to showcase our journey over the past 140 years, which the Girton Preservation Club members have the opportunity to be a part of. Whether you’re into history, tech or just want to hang out with fellow Girton fans, we’d love to have you on board.
Reach out to Ms Francis-Wright if you’re interested in getting involved!
