RULER Spotlight School
Last week, Girton Grammar was delighted to announce its selection as a 2025 RULER Spotlight School to the wider community. To mark the occasion, we produced a video featuring our talented Junior School students and staff, which you can view below.
The accolade was awarded by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence in recognition of Girton’s commitment to fostering a supportive and emotionally intelligent learning environment through its implementation of the RULER approach within the Junior School. As the first school in the southern hemisphere to receive the honour, Girton is looking forward to assisting other schools in the region with their own RULER implementations.
Divisional Primary Track and Field Championships
The Divisional Primary Track and Field Championships were held at the Regional Athletic Facility in Flora Hill on Monday 16 September. Girton Grammar Junior school had 25 students competing in this event, one of our larger contingents in recent years. The day was cold and windy, which made running and throwing more difficult. It was a credit to our students that they were able to compete with effort and enthusiasm despite the challenging conditions. A number of students will now progress to the regional competition, which will be held on Monday 14 October. Many of our students finished in the top four or five in their events, and Girton had three relay teams representing our district, with the 11-year-old boys and 12-year-old girls finishing first, and the 11-year-old girls third. We wish all competitors well for the next stage.

Hi families,
Children explored dinosaurs through excavations in clay, finding fossils and then matching those fossils to dinosaur figurines. They really enjoyed working with tools and working together to break out the fossils and dinosaurs, taking turns and giving each other ideas, encouragement and assistance when needed or asked.
Term 3 recap
This term was a blast. We celebrated our 30th anniversary which was an afternoon full of games, fun and some prizes. Children explored different board games and activities from 30 years ago such as marbles, elastics and knucklebones (jacks).
We hope to see you in OSHC next term!
