What's Happening In Secondary

A Reflection on Frozen JR. 

What an incredible journey it has been bringing Disney’s Frozen JR. to the stage at Devonport Christian School. 

Now that the curtain has closed on our time in Arendelle, we find ourselves reflecting with an overwhelming sense of gratitude, joy and, most of all, pride. Over the past several months, we have had the immense privilege of watching our students grow, not only in their confidence and performance skills, but in their friendships, resilience, independence and willingness to support one another. 

Bringing a production of this scale to life has been an enormous undertaking, and it has been a privilege to work with the generous, creative and dedicated members of our school community. From our students on stage and backstage, to our staff, volunteers, families and wider community, so many people gave generously of their time, energy and gifts to make this production possible. What we saw on stage was so much more than a performance, it was the result of months of commitment, perseverance, teamwork and courage. 

As a production team, we could not be prouder of every person who contributed, flourished, and encouraged one another, and a group of individuals became a team. In many ways, our students lived out the heart of Frozen JR. They discovered that we do not have to be perfect to do something extraordinary. They learned the importance of looking after one another, choosing courage, serving others and embracing the unique gifts that God has given each of us. 

To our students: We hope you know just how proud we are of you. As you look back on our journey through Arendelle, we hope you remember far more than the songs, costumes and performances. We hope you remember the friendships, the laughter, the challenges we overcame and the incredible sense of community that grew throughout the process.
