The Alex Gadomski Cup Gala Day 

Thank you to The Hutchins School for again hosting a remarkable event yesterday, the 9th Annual Alex Gadomski Cup Gala Day.

This special Gala Day serves to honour the legacy of one of SVC's former students, Alex Gadomski. It aims to raise awareness and crucial funds for The Alex Gadomski Fellowship, an initiative dedicated to finding a cure for bone marrow failure —a cause that resonates deeply with the community.

Congratulations to all the players who represented their respective schools with pride, demonstrating an extraordinary level of sportsmanship and bravery. Their efforts not only showcased their athletic abilities but also reinforced the spirit of unity that underpins this essential charitable endeavour. A special thank you to all College coaches and staff who make this event possible.

In the Year 7/8 'curtain raiser', Team SVC emerged victorious, with a decisive 12-point lead in a fast-paced and skilful football match. The game was intense, with Hutchins rallying vigorously towards the end, giving themselves a glimmer of hope for victory, but they ultimately ran out of time to secure the win.

The final score: SVC 7.16.58 def HUT 7.4.46. 

A special congratulations goes to Jake Burt, whose outstanding performance earned him the prestigious Alex Gadomski Medal of Courage.

The excitement continued in the Year 9/10 Alex Gadomski Cup, where Hutchins staged a dramatic comeback to snatch victory by a mere point. In a climactic moment that will be remembered, George Ribbon scored a match-winning goal with just 10 seconds remaining on the clock. His exceptional performance throughout the match not only brought his team to victory but also earned him the Medal of Courage. 

The final score: HUT 6.3.39 def SVC 5.8.38.

Both teams displayed exceptional skill, determination, and heart in what can only be described as an incredibly hard-fought contest. This day was not just about football; it was a celebration of community, resilience, and the enduring spirit of Alex Gadomski.
