Zone Athletics Carnival

Last Monday, 38 students proudly represented Meadowbank Public School at the Ryde Zone Athletics Carnival. Our students gave their best effort against some tough competition, showcasing their skills and determination. It was wonderful to see our students participate, enjoying themselves, cheering each other on and embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship.

There were many notable achievements from our students. Congratulations to:

Agaraa M had one event for the day and she highlighted her immense talent with a 3rd place in the junior girls Shot Put.
Egujin B had a big day too, placing 3rd in the 11 years girls Shot Put and 6th place in the Discus. She also performed in several events including the 100m, 200m and Long Jump.
Zara K showed her versatility as an athlete by competing in a range of events. She competed in the 10 years girls and junior age girls groups. Her events included the 100m, 200m, Long Jump, High Jump, Discus and 4 x 100m relay. She achieved a fantastic 3rd place in the high jump with a jump of 1.10m.
Hazel Y competed in the 11 years girls and senior girls age groups. She provided one of the highlights of the day by placing 3rd in the 11 years girls 800m. She also had a busy day participating in the 100m and senior girls 4 x 100m relay. Hazel also finished 4th place in the recent zone 1500m event.
Khuslen B also participated in many events across the day, competing in the 12 years girls and senior age girls groups. Her events included the 100m, 200m, 800m and 4 x 100m relay with the highlight being her 4th place in the 800m.
Shine L ran some great races in the 12 years girls 100m and finished 4th in the final, missing the podium by 0.08 seconds.
Sanchir M showed his class by placing 4th in the 9 years boys 100m, narrowly missing a podium finish.
Lucas E jumped amazingly to finish 5th in the 12 years boys High Jump with a successful height of 1.25m.
Huck G was also close to a podium finish in the 11 year boys high jump with a height of 1.20m. He also finished 9th in the Shot Put.
Gemma W performed admirably in tricking conditions to finish 5th in the 11 year girls high jump.
Lucas Z made the final of the 10 years boys 100m and ran 8th in a very tight race.
Leo M performed strongly across many events finishing 8th in the 12 year boys Long Jump. He also competed in the 100m, 200m, 800m, Discus and 4 x 100m relay.
Our junior boys 4 x 100m relay team provided a highlight at the end of the day with a very competitive 5th placing, just missing out on 3rd place.

A special thank you goes out to our amazing parent helpers Margie and Jemma, who took on the roles of team managers and general organisers. Their hard work and support was invaluable, and we couldn’t have done it without them!

Thank you to all other parents to came to the carnival to support their children and other students.

Meadowbank Persuaders Win Round 1 of Regional Knockouts in Premier’s Debating Challenge

The Meadowbank Persuaders debating team continued their winning streak by defeating Manly West Public School in Round 1 of the Regional Knockouts of the Premier’s Debating Challenge.

The topic was "That primary school teachers should set a research project as homework over the school holidays." Team members Gemma, Layan, Josie and Shine presented a strong model to the audience, suggesting that the research project could be completed in just half an hour a day, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the holidays.

Their clear arguments, teamwork and confidence impressed the adjudicators, earning our Meadowbank Persuaders a well-deserved victory.

Congratulations to Gemma, Layan, Josie and Shine for their excellent performance. We look forward to cheering them on in the next round of the competition against Mosman.
