The Season of Creation: Living Water
During September, we enter the Season of Creation. A special time when we are invited to celebrate the beauty of God’s creation and reflect on how we can care for our common home.
The Season of Creation begins on the 1st September, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation and continues until the 4th October, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi.
This year, we are invited to reflect on the theme of “Living Water.”
Water is essential to life. It nourishes our earth, sustains our communities and reminds us of God's life-giving presence. Throughout Scripture, water is a powerful symbol of God's love; from the waters of creation and baptism to Jesus' invitation to receive “living water.”
Pope Francis reminds us that caring for creation is more than an environmental responsibility; it is part of our Christian calling. Through Laudato Si’, he invites us to develop an ecological spirituality; to see creation with wonder and gratitude and to recognise how deeply connected we are to God, one another and the world around us.
As a school community, Living Water invites us to think about how we can bring life
wherever we go.
- How do we care for our environment?
- How do our everyday choices make a difference?
- How can our words and actions bring kindness, hope and life to others?
Just as water brings life wherever it flows, may our school community be a place where God's love, care and hope flow freely. Throughout this Season of Creation, may we pray, learn and act together, growing in gratitude for the wonderful gift of creation and our responsibility to care for it.

Celebrating Father’s Day
This weekend, we celebrate Father’s Day and the special men who bring love, guidance,
encouragement and support into the lives of our children. Father’s Day is an opportunity to give thanks for dads, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, uncles, carers, mentors and all those who play a fatherly role in the lives of our young people.
e are reminded of the example of St Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. St Joseph showed us that fatherhood is expressed through quiet strength, faithful love, protection, patience and care. We give thanks for all the fathers and father figures in our SMCM community and for the many ways they nurture, encourage and walk alongside our children.
May this Father’s Day be a time of joy, gratitude and connection, as we celebrate the gift of those who help our children grow, flourish and become all that God calls them to be.

Following in the Footsteps of St Paul
Earlier this year, I was very grateful to be selected to return to the Inspire to Lead Faith Formation Program as a leader. During the upcoming school holidays, I will have the privilege of travelling to Greece and Turkey, following in the footsteps of St Paul.
As I make this pilgrimage, I would love to take a little piece of SMCM with me. I am inviting members of our school community to share a prayer or prayer intention that they would like me to carry on the journey. Perhaps there is someone you would like to pray for, a special intention, a hope or someone who needs God's presence at this time.
Simply write your prayer and place it in a sealed envelope. All prayers will remain completely private and unopened. During the pilgrimage, I will place these intentions at a sacred place of worship along our journey. If you would like me to carry a prayer for you, please give your sealed envelope to me by Wednesday of Week 10.
It will be a privilege to carry the prayers and intentions of our SMCM community with me as we follow in the footsteps of St Paul.
