Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!
Thank you to the parent volunteers who have helped prepare or serve on the Father's Day Stall this week. Thank you to all families for persevering with our transition to Compass and using the Canteen payment module for the first time. With the continued growth of our school the ability to process over 600 cash payments for events such as this is no longer viable.
There was a lot of careful consideration given by our students to picking out the perfect gift for dads, granddads and special friends at our stall today! We look forward to our Father's Day Morning tomorrow!
Spirit Week
Term 3 has certainly been action-packed, but the best is yet to come! In Week 10, we will celebrate our first-ever SMCM Spirit Week!
Spirit Week is an opportunity to celebrate our wonderful school community, recognise a fantastic term of learning, and showcase the many talents and abilities of our students.
Each day will have a special focus, activity or event for our students and staff to enjoy, including our much-anticipated SMCM Colour Run!
We also invite our families to join in the celebrations:
Wednesday 16 September | Celebration of Learning | 3:45–6:00pm
Families are invited to visit their child’s learning space and celebrate the learning and achievements of Term 3.
Thursday 17 September | SMCM Colour Run | from 2:00pm
Parents and families are welcome to come along as spectators or register to volunteer and be part of the Colour Run fun! Please note that colour can only be distributed by parents who have registered as Colour Run volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please email kristie.hocking@smcmeppingnth.catholic.edu.au.
Keep an eye on Compass for Spirit Week information, daily themes and reminders as we get closer to Week 10. We can’t wait to finish Term 3 with a week full of learning, celebration, community and SMCM spirit!
Colour Run
To help cover the operating costs of our Colour Run, each student is asked to contribute a $10 entry fee. The great news is that you don’t need to make a separate payment! Once your child has a minimum of $10 raised and uploaded to their online Colour Run profile, their entry fee is covered.
The $10 entry fee includes coloured sunglasses, sweatband and a prize for every child. Anything raised beyond the $10 entry fee will contribute to our 'Paddock Makeover' fundraising tally.

School Advisory Council
Last night members of our School Advisory Council met for our termly meeting. We discussed the Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN data and the pleasing results we have achieved as a school. We also discussed the financial and school operations planning currently underway for 2027.

Student Enrolments for 2027
In 2027, our SMCM student community will grow to approximately 640 students. We have offered 104 Prep places for 2027 and are currently meeting with families on our waitlist for Prep and other year levels.
As we continue to plan our classes and staffing for next year, it is important that we have an accurate picture of our enrolments. If your family is not planning to return to SMCM in 2027, please let us know as soon as possible. This will allow us to offer available places to families who are eagerly waiting to join our SMCM community.
Monday 7th September - Pupil Free Day
On Monday staff will be planning and preapring for Term 4. Teachers will use this time to work with curriculum leaders to evaluate the Term 3 learning programs, reflect on student data and continue mapping the curriculum for the reminder of the school year.
Our heartfelt condolences are shared with Fabio, Josie, Alessio (Pilgrims Homegroup) and Christian (Respect Homegroup) on the passing of Fabio's father and the boy's Nonno last week.
Our thoughts and prayers are with ourNepalese community,and their extended family and friends in Nepal, following the devastating flash flooding last weekend.
We pray for all those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods, and for the communities facing uncertainty and hardship in the days ahead. We pray for the safety of those affected, for strength and comfort for families who are grieving, and for the emergency workers and volunteers providing care and assistance.
At times such as these, we are reminded of the importance of standing together in compassion, prayer and hope. We hold our Nepalese families especially close in our hearts and pray that they feel the love and support of our SMCM community.
This Father’s day, we pray and give thanks in a special way for all dads and father figures - those here with us and those always in our hearts.
