IN THE CLASSROOM

Get to know the teacher - Miss Brazier
We have been lucky to have Miss Brazier join the St Joseph's Primary School community over the past three weeks. She is currently completing her final placement for her teaching degree. We look forward to sharing her final week with us next week and wish her well on her teaching journey into the future. Find out a bit more about Miss Brazier below.
What brings you to St Joseph’s Warialda?
I am currently studying for my Bachelor of Education (Early Childcare and Primary) and this is my final placement before I graduate.
Where do you normally live / study?
I normally live in Newcastle!
What class / stage will you be working with?
I will be spending most of my time with Stage 3 - years 5-6, however, I do spend some time with Stage 2 during the afternoon.
Why drew you to pick St Joseph’s Warialda as your placement school?
I was drawn to this school as it felt close-knit and I enjoyed how small it was, which meant that I could develop some really great relationships with the teachers, support staff and the students during my small 4 week placement.
How has your placement experience been so far?
My placement experience has been amazing so far! Everybody at the school has been extremely welcoming and I have learnt so much from all of the teachers around me.
What is one thing you have learned as a teacher since you have been at St Joseph’s?
I have learnt that simplicity is key!
What is one goal or fresh idea that you are excited to bring to the classrooms during your time with us?
My one goal is to have a lasting impact on the students, whether that’s through a lesson I plan and teach, or the student-teacher relationship that is formed over the 4 weeks of being at St Josephs.
If you could take your students on an imaginary excursion anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would take the students to Disneyland!
What was your absolute favourite subject or memory when you were in primary school?
My favourite memory during school is the teachers. I always had amazing teachers who were so supportive and kind, they are who I strive to be!
When you’re not studying or planning lessons, how do you like to spend your weekend?
I spend my weekends reading, going for walks with the puppies and spending time with my loved ones.
If you could have any fictional character as a co-teacher for a day, who would you pick and why?
I would choose Ms Frizzle from the Magic School Bus, who wouldn’t want to go on a fun and exciting excursion everyday!
