CELEBRATING OUR FAITH

Living Our Faith: From Celebration to Daily Action

Over the past fortnight, our school community has been reflecting deeply on what it means to put our faith into action. Having recently celebrated the Feast Day of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and reflected on our school focus: “People have a better day because I am here as part of the school team” we are now focusing on how we live out these values in the small, everyday choices we make in our classrooms and playground.

As we look ahead to the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15), we are reminded of Mary’s gentle yet courageous "yes" to God's plan. Like Mary MacKillop and the Mother of Jesus, our calling in a Catholic school is simple yet profound: to say "yes" to helping others, to showing quiet leadership through kindness, and to ensuring everyone in our rural community feels seen, included, and supported.

In Religious Education lessons over the coming weeks, students will be exploring how faith isn't just something we learn about it is something we do

Whether it’s sharing equipment, offering an encouraging word, or stepping in to assist a classmate, our students are actively discovering that holiness begins in simple acts of service.

Table Talk at Home 💬 Here are a few reflection prompts to share with your family over dinner or in the car this week:

  • Faith in Action: What is one small "act of kindness" you noticed someone else do this week that made your day better?
  • Our Motto in Practice: How can we ensure our home, like our school, is a place where people can say, "I had a better day because you are part of our family team"?
  • Courageous "Yes": Saint Mary MacKillop and Mary, Mother of Jesus both said "yes" to helping others even when it was challenging. When is a time it takes courage to do the right or kind thing at school or work?

A Family Prayer 🙏

Dear God,

Thank You for calling us to be active members of our school family and wider community.

Inspire us by the gentle strength of Mary, Mother of Jesus, and the practical courage of Saint Mary MacKillop.

Help us to look for opportunities to serve others with open hearts and willing hands.

May our daily words and actions bring comfort, joy, and hope to everyone we meet, so that truly, people have a better day because we are here.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Amen.
