Help needed: Promote 2026 Census temporary roles

The Liverpool Plains Business Chamber Inc. has been contacted by the Census Engagement Manager for the North-West of NSW (Tamworth, Inverell, Gwydir, Narrabri, Moree, Gunnedah and Liverpool Plains LGAs) to assist with the upcoming national Census. The ABS is partnering with local community and business groups to support strong participation and high-quality data for the Liverpool Plains community.

  • Temporary roles available:  Coordinator roles and field roles.
  • How you can help:  Share the opportunities via your email list or newsletter, post on social media, mention them at meetings, or display a poster at the school.

You are welcome to share or reuse the suggested wording from our Facebook post ( https://www.facebook.com/LiverpoolPlainsBusinessChamber). See post below.

Thank you for your support. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

“Shape Our Future: Be Counted in the 2026 Census!”

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) runs the Census every five years to count everyone in Australia. The next Census will be on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.

Census information helps governments, businesses, and not-for-profits plan for services such as schools, healthcare, transport, and infrastructure. It also helps community groups plan local services.

The ABS is also hiring 30,000+ people for temporary 2026 Census field roles, with a variety of jobs available locally. More than half don’t require prior experience, and you can choose hours that fit your schedule.

Help collect vital data for your community.

Apply now at www.census.abs.gov.au/jobs for more information and available roles by Monday, 18 May 2026, to join the first local recruitment round.

Please share through your networks to help spread the word!

Kind regards,

Tammie Clark

To Whom It May Concern,

National Volunteers Week, from 18 to 24 May 2026, is a great chance to recognise and celebrate the wonderful volunteers who give their time and energy to support our local community.

On behalf of the Liverpool Plains Business Chamber, I’m pleased to share that we are collaborating with Liverpool Plains Shire Council to host two complimentary community events in Quirindi.  I invite all members of the school community to attend to help us celebrate the people who make our region thrive.

You’re invited to join us at the Quirindi Community Hub:

Along with celebrating our volunteers, these events will share information about the Council’s new online Community Directory and Events Calendar. There will be a short demonstration on how local businesses,  community groups and sporting clubs can promote their events, workshops, markets, programs, and festivals across the shire. You’ll also have the chance to meet Caroline Lumley, Council’s new Manager Economy and Engagement, and connect with other volunteers and community leaders.

National Volunteers Week is Australia’s biggest yearly celebration of volunteering. This year’s theme, “Your Year to Volunteer,” reminds us there are many ways to give back, whether you volunteer often or just help out when you can.

If you already volunteer, we’d love to thank you in person. If you’re thinking about volunteering in the future, these events are a great way to meet local groups and find something that matches your interests and availability.

I have attached a flyer with all the details. Please print off and display and share this information with your networks.

Please RSVP by Friday, 15 May 2026 so we can plan catering by contacting Jacqui by phone/text on 0418 136 919 or email lpbchamber@outlook.com.

I hope you can join us to celebrate the volunteers who play such an important role in our shire.

Kind regards,

Tammie Clark
