Senior Education and Training (SET) planning is a crucial Queensland process for Year 10 students, defining their pathway to the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Developed with schools and parents, a SET plan aligns senior school subjects, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and school-based apprenticeships with post-school goals, such as university or employment.

Key components of the SET planning process include:

Targeting Future Goals: Mapping out career ambitions and choosing appropriate senior subjects, such as preparing for university entrance and finding potential ATAR prerequisites.

Developing the Plan: The process usually takes place in Year 10, involving students, parents, and school staff to create a personalized, actionable pathway.

Four-Stage Process: Involves thinking about the future, exploring options, documenting the plan, and implementing/reviewing the plan.

Flexibility: Options include QCAA subjects, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and school-based apprenticeships or traineeships.
