Season of Easter Mass

Today, we gathered as a school community for our Season of Easter Mass. During Mass, Father Colin reminded us that Saint Augustine described us as Easter people, and that he proclaimed, "Alleluia is our song.” Saint Augustine stated that for Christians Easter (the Resurrection of Jesus) is the centre of our faith, because Jesus rose from the dead, hope, joy, and new life define who we are. Alleluia (which means “Praise the Lord”) expresses that joy.

So, we do not live as people of fear or despair. We live as people of hope, joy, and resurrection. Even in difficult times, this idea encourages us to stay hopeful, trust in new beginnings, and to celebrate life and faith with joy.

In fact, "We are Easter people” means that our lives should reflect the joy and hope of the Resurrection every day—not just during the Season of Easter.

Kind regards

Pope Leo has asked we pray..

"That everyone might have food. Let us pray that everyone, from large producers to small consumers, be committed to avoid wasting food, and to ensure that everyone has access to quality food."

It was therefore very fitting that our Vinnies Family Sandwich Making for the homeless happened this week. We had a great turn up of new and old faces. Thank you for making the Pope's prayer become a reality. We made some delicious sandwiches for the homeless and Vinnies Van took them out that night. Our next date for this initiative is Wed 17 June.

Kinder Mums took some time to meditate last Friday before they went into their hour of pampering in the classrooms. We practised a few minutes of Christian Meditation with the repetition of the mantra MA RA NA THA which means "Come Lord Jesus". What part of your life do you need to invite Jesus into to heal? If you want to try Christian Meditation, remember that every final Thursday of the month, we do have it for you and your child (optional) at 8.25 am in the Church. Our world needs more stillness and quiet. Why not just come and see what it's all about? No RSVP necessary!

NB All classes have been invited to attend Pentecost Sunday Mass on May 24th at 10.15 am.  Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter to commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit as tongues of fire upon the apostles. (Acts 2:1-31) It is known as the birthday of the Church because it marks the start of the Church's mission of compassion for the world. To symbolise fire please wear a touch of red to the Mass. Our recently baptised families will be receiving their certificates at the Mass so please come to welcome them into our community. Morning tea will follow.
