Christmas Appeal
This year’s College Christmas Appeal takes its name from 1 Peter 4:10: 'Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.'
Each year group is supporting a different organisation:
Years 5 & 6 – St Vincent de Paul Chatswood: non-perishable food and Christmas treats for local families and the Vinnies Van, packed into hampers by the Edmund Rice Society.
Year 7 – St Mary’s Bowraville: a toy, clothing, sports equipment or a book for a primary-aged child, labelled with age and gender (no need to wrap).
Years 8 & 9 – Mary Mac’s Place, Central Coast: staple foods such as rice, lentils, pasta, cooking oil, long-life milk and canned meals.
Year 10 – Centacare: a hamper and handwritten card personalised for a Centacare employee. Further details will come through homeroom.
Year 11 – St Michael’s Meals, Darlington: a family hamper in a reusable enviro-bag with non-perishable meals, snacks and toiletries.
Donations can be brought to homeroom on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from Week 3 to Week 6 this term. Thank you for your generosity and support.
Saint of the Week
Born into a peasant family in Domrémy, France, in 1412, Joan of Arc was a young Catholic girl who began receiving divine visions of saints encouraging her to support Charles VII during the Hundred Years' War.
Despite having no military training, Joan persuaded Charles VII to let her lead a French force to relieve the Siege of Orléans in 1429. Her courageous leadership brought a decisive victory, lifting the siege and turning the tide of the war in favour of France.
Shortly after, she paved the way for Charles VII's official coronation as King at Reims. Captured by enemy forces and unfairly condemned, she was martyred at the age of 19. She remains a powerful symbol of faith, bravery, and conviction, and was officially canonised as a saint in 1920.
CSBB Leadership Day
On Tuesday 27 October, 3 of our newly invested prefects joined other school leaders from the Catholic schools in the Broken Bay Diocese for a Leadership Day. Fr David Ranson led Mass and then the group heard from Ephphica Centre for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This presentation talked about the importance of communication and servant leadership which mirrors the leadership style of Jesus. The room was full of ideas and energy as newly elected leaders shared their thoughts and ideas of leadership.
Youth Mass
All students are invited to attend the Parish Youth Mass on Sunday 8 November commencing at 5:30 pm, followed by a pizza dinner.
Praise & Worship Evening
Please see information sent by the Parish for their Praise and Worship evening which is a wonderful night of prayer and song.
