Celebrating World Teachers' Day at St Pius X College
On World Teachers' Day, the St Pius X College community took the opportunity to recognise and thank the dedicated teachers who make a lasting difference in the lives of our students each day.
As part of the celebrations, students were invited to write affirmations and messages of gratitude for their teachers. These heartfelt notes acknowledged the care, encouragement, patience, and expertise that teachers bring to their classrooms and reminded staff of the positive impact they have on young people. The affirmations were warmly received and served as a powerful reminder of the strong relationships that exist within our College community.
Adding to the celebrations, our student leaders distributed pens to staff throughout the day as a small token of appreciation. While simple in gesture, the gift symbolised the invaluable role teachers play in educating, guiding, and inspiring students to achieve their best.
World Teachers' Day is an important occasion to recognise the commitment and professionalism of educators who work tirelessly to support the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of young people. Teachers help shape future generations, fostering curiosity, resilience, character, and a love of learning.
At St Pius X College, we are grateful for the passion, dedication, and care demonstrated by our teachers each day. We thank them for their unwavering commitment to our students and for the significant contribution they make to our College community. Happy World Teachers' Day to all our wonderful staff.
Year 8 Brainstorm Productions
This morning, Year 8 had the opportunity to watch ‘The Hurting Game’ by Brainstorm Productions. The plot followed 2 drama students in Year 11 working on a drama assessment. Each of the characters, a boy and a girl, had their own personal challenges both social and mental health related. It was a creative, engaging and exciting performance that showed the dangers of social media, bullying and how they impact young people.
The issues raised highlight the challenges that the student in Year 8 may face. Having open minds, being kind and showing empathy were explored brilliantly by the actors. During the Q & A session, the Brainstorm actors asked some insightful questions that really made the students think. The answers that the students gave demonstrated the impact of the performance. They accurately identified the issues, dangers and impacts they may face as they continue to navigate the ever-changing world in which they live. Student Representative Council members Jonas Legg & Ben Costain gave thanks on behalf of the Year 8 cohort – a gesture the actors were hugely appreciative of. A beneficial morning that added another layer of wellbeing to the Year 8 group!
