SPOTLIGHT

Kindy- Dino Day

Hold onto your sunhats, because Kindergarten has officially gone prehistoric! Today our mini-paleontologists put on their digging boots, grabbed their tools, and went on a grand expedition back in time.

We kicked off our day in the school sandpit with some serious dino-mite bone hunting. After a whole lot of digging, sifting, and team effort, we discovered a collection of ancient bones. But the excitement didn't stop there—when we pieced the skeleton together, we realised we had hit the paleontological jackpot!

After consulting our extensive Kindy research, we confirmed that this was a brand-new, never-before-seen species of dinosaur. As the official discoverers, we had the duty of naming it. Move over T-Rex, make way for the Kindyosaurus!

After such a raptor-ous discovery, we dusted off our hands and headed out to enjoy our fruit break in the warm sunshine—because as everyone knows, even world-class paleontologists need a juicy apple to stay fossil-fueled.

The rest of the day was jammed-packed with prehistoric adventures:

  • Fossil Making: We got our hands dirty creating our very own fossils. They are currently drying and curing, and will make their grand journey home next term!
  • Dino Chic Headbands: We crafted custom dinosaur headbands so we could look the part while roaming the hallways.
  • Real-Deal Fossils with Mrs Doyle & Mrs O: We got up close and personal with actual real-life fossils, learning all about how the past stays preserved.
  • Maths Dinosaur Feeding with Mrs Rowsell: We practiced our counting skills by feeding a very hungry (and very mathematical) dinosaur.

By the end of the afternoon, our little diggers were completely fossil-exhausted and ready for a well-deserved rest. It was an absolutely roar-some day, and while making fossils was incredible, getting to discover and name the Kindyosaurus was definitely the highlight of an unforgettable expedition!

Year 2

Year 2 had a fantastic time on their Term 3 excursion to ANZAC Park! Making the most of a glorious spring day, students enjoyed a lovely walk to the park to kick off an exciting hands-on learning activity. Once there, they took on the role of reviewers, carefully observing and gathering information to help them write their very own personal reviews. Students focused their investigations on a range of areas throughout the park, including the playground, the Sandakan or ANZAC Gate memorials, the vibrant gardens, or the popular picnic and BBQ area. After completing their research, everyone came together to share lunch, followed by plenty of playtime with friends before making the scenic walk back to school. Students spent the following days after the excursion preparing their personal reviews on one of the areas from the park.

Brain Olympia

The Brain Olympia Cluster finals were held at St Edward’s Primary for the 2026 edition! Our team, consisting of Jonty, Emmet, Lilly, Emilia, Dominic, Aria, Rylee and Tommy, brought their A-game right from the first bell. The competition was super fierce, with the brightest minds from all over the Diocese showing up to flex their brain muscles! While we didn't quite snag a spot on the podium this time, our team scored an impressive 6th place out of all the school teams that participated this year. We are proud of their fantastic teamwork, incredible brainpower, and positive vibes that they displayed throughout.
