Term 3 - VUSC Music

Victorian School Music Festival – VSMF 

Victoria University Secondary College is proud to have eight ensembles competing in the VSMF this year, from having only one ensemble in 2022 (a combined Year 8/9 Band), it is wonderful to witness the growth and improvement in Music across VUSC. 

In the Concert Band section, I am very proud to announce that our school received the following awards: 

Div 1 Honours Band - Silver Shield

Div 2 Year 9 Concert Band - Silver Shield

Div 3 Year 8 Concert Band - Silver Shield

In the Jazz Section, I am very proud to announce that our school received the following awards: 

Div 1 Big Band - Bronze Shield

Div 2 Stage Band - Silver Shield

Div 3 Jazz Band - Silver Shield

And finally, this week our Choir won the Gold Shield!

These are amazing achievements, particularly given that our students competed against bands from other schools with students in year levels older than ours. 

Congratulations to all students for their outstanding performances, the respect that they showed while listening to the other schools and for wearing the school uniform with pride, you all looked amazing! We congratulate you on these fantastic efforts and achievements, as well as your hard work and dedication, and for being excellent ambassadors of our college. 

Next term, we look forward to seeing the Year 7 Concert Band compete in their event on Thursday 12th November. 

VCE Music Recital 

Congratulations to three Year 12 Students who performed their assessment program in front of family, friends and school staff in the lead up to their Term 4 Solo Assessments recently: Rose Cilia on Clarinet, Timothy Tinao on Drum Kit and Adem Dincer on Bass Guitar. Well done!

Annual Concert - Thursday 10th September at 6pm

Brimbank Salvation Army Hall, Roseleigh Blvd Sydenham

The students of the VUSC Music Department proudly invite you to their Annual Music Concert featuring: College Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Year 7 Concert Band, Year 8 Concert Band, Year 9 Concert Band, Jazz Band, Stage Band, VUSC Big Band and VUSC Honours Band.

All are welcome to this free event! We look forward to seeing our school community there for a fantastic evening of music. 

Last week of Term 3 - no rehearsals 

Please note that there will not be any Before School, Lunchtime or After School rehearsals during the last week of Term 3.  This will allow staff to plan new music for Term 4, when 2027 Ensembles begin rehearsing.

2007 Ensembles start Week 1 of Term 4 

At the Annual Concert we will farewell our Year 12 Music students, and this will be our last performance of our current/2026 Ensembles. During the last week of Term 3, parents and carers will receive a Compass message regarding student placement, days and times for Term 4 into 2027 Ensembles.

Please note that the following Ensembles will be rehearsing after school on a Wednesday: College Choir, Jazz Band, Stage Band and Big Band. 

The VUSC Honours Band will rehearse at 7.45am on Tuesday mornings and Guitar Ensembles during lunchtime.
