Principal's Message
Course Counselling and Subject Selection for Students in Years 9 – 11
This term our school ran the course selection days for all Year 9, 10 and 11 students. These days allow us to provide every student with individual counselling regarding their pathway options so they can finalise subject selections for 2027. Students each have individual interviews with a teacher or member of the Careers team. During the information sessions and interviews, students receive information to assist them to make informed decisions about subjects they should study which are aligned with their interests, course and career aspirations.
The care and thorough approach given to this process is a credit to the Careers/Pathways and Sub School Teams. The intensive work this involves is done with passion and integrity by all staff who support and assist students to make these decisions, in the knowledge they will have the support of all staff at the school to achieve success.
We wish all our students well with their course selections and thank all the staff and parents involved for their support in this process, in particular the Careers team lead by Ms Kristy Muratore, for their organisation and the support provided to both students and staff during this process.
Year 12 VCE Practice Exams
Practice exams will be running next week and during the second week of the school holidays for Year 12 VCE students, and Year 11 students who are studying a Unit 3/4 subject. Thank you to the Principal team who will be supervising these exams in the holidays. We encourage students to make the most of this opportunity in preparation for their final exams beginning early next term.
ABCN and Beacon Programs
This term several students from across the college have been fortunate to benefit from participation in a number of programs provided by our business and community partners, ABCN and Beacon.
The ABCN Money Mastery Program for Year 10 and 11 students was hosted by MUFG Pension & Market Services Melbourne, and was a workshop aimed at helping students prepare for financial firsts, such as getting their first job, managing a budget, and understanding the basics of investing. Through a mix of interactive discussions and hands-on activities, students built confidence in managing money and making more informed financial decisions, as they move from school to adulthood.
Students in Year 12 VCE VM attended the offices of Clayton Utz to participate in the Beacon Perform Program, where volunteer business mentors shared career insights and facilitated small group workshops on topics such as elevator pitching, resumes, interviews, networking, conflict resolution and goal setting. The Perform Program offered a rare and exciting opportunity for young people to practise communicating with professional people in a supported environment.
The ABCN Focus Program for girls in Years 10 and 11 was held at Hall and Wilcox in the city. This workshop encourages the take up of leadership roles by female students.
Thank you to our Community Engagement Coordinator, Hatice Emirler for organising these fantastic opportunities for our students each year.
Jiangsu Undergraduates Visit
On Wednesday 5th August, 40 undergraduates from various universities in China visited our school as part of a two week study tour to Melbourne. The undergraduates ran a number Chinese language & cultural activities in our Chinese classes, undertook some classroom observations, and participated in a reflective session with our teachers. The visit was part of our reciprocal relationship with China and enhanced the undergraduates’ understanding of teaching and learning in Australia. Students were excited to have our Chinese visitors in their classrooms, in particular the 25 students who are travelling to China next month, who were given some insights into Chinese culture and etiquette.
China Cultural Tour and Sister School Visit
25 students and four staff will be departing Melbourne on Saturday 12th September for a 10 day trip to China.
The group is very much looking forward to visiting Beijing, Yangzhou and Shanghai, with immersion activities taking place at our sister school in Yangzhou halfway through the tour. We wish them safe travels and look forward to hearing about their experiences early in Term 4.
Parent Opinion Survey
The annual Parent Opinion survey is underway this term. The Department of Education survey is an important way for us to gather information about parent perceptions of the school. The anonymous survey invites parents to rate their experiences of the school across a range of areas including transition, approachability, student behaviour & safety, homework, etc.
Parent responses are collated by the Department and the information is then provided back to the school in Term 4. The results are extremely important to us - we analyse them carefully. This information is used in a variety of ways to inform planning for 2027.
Congratulations
A huge congratulations to Rosemary Taliauli of Year 7 who represented Victoria in the Rugby League State u12 mixed Team at the School Sports Australia Championship in Ballina NSW recently, and winning a Bronze medal! Well done Rosemary, we are super proud of you!

Summer Uniform
A reminder to parents/carers that students will be required to wear the summer uniform in Term 4. The College uniform may be purchased from PSW online or at their Ravenhall store (Unit 2, 51-53 Westwood Drive), and second hand items may be bought and sold via the Sustainable School Shop website.
I wish all of our school community a safe and restful break during the Term 3 holidays, and we look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4.
