A huge thanks to all those who took part in recognising RU OK Day on Thursday 10th September. Checking in with our friends and loved ones happens every day, but RU OK Day is an important reminder that a conversation could change a life. Encouraging our students to stop and think about how they could ask “are you ok?” was a fun and engaging activity!

7th- 11th September is the Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week. This year’s theme, ‘Do it anyway’, is about taking small steps for your health, on your terms. It’s not about pushing through pain or pressure. It’s about giving yourself permission to prioritise your health, whether that means seeking support, asking another question, taking time to rest or doing what feels right for you.
Young women, girls, and young gender-diverse people experience unique health challenges. These can include navigating puberty, learning about sexual and reproductive health, and managing mental health challenges like anxiety or social pressure. Getting the right kind of healthcare and info that’s made for teens can help you stay healthy and feel supported – check out Jean Hailes for an abundance of targeted and age-related resources.
Mount Beauty Secondary College proudly provides free period products, because these are a necessity, not a luxury. MBSC is working towards promoting a positive culture around menstrual health and building a supportive environment among our school community.
Also worth checking out are these new and expanding services and initiatives from the State Government.
As always, our wellbeing team are always available to chat:
Pip, our Mental Health Practitioner is here every Monday and Tuesday
Leah, our School Nurse is with us every second Thursday
Rhona, our Student Support Mentor is here on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
