Principal's Report

2027 School Captains

I’d like to congratulate Evie Armitage and Emily Macklan and formally announce that they are our school captains for 2027. Thanks to Emma Redmond, our Student Liaison teacher, for managing this process. On Emma’s suggestion, we ran an earlier selection process this year, to enable a handover period from the outgoing captains to the new ones.

PE Uniform Survey

Thanks to the SRC, who initially canvassed the school students about the current PE shirt. This provided clear data that students didn’t like the white shirt for a variety of reasons. Since then, a secondary survey has collected more data from students and staff about what thoughts they had for a new shirt. The survey results will now be used to see if we can come up with a range of suitable options that the school community can then have a final choice from.

'End of Term-itis'

It is often at this time of the term, when we see tiredness and fatigue taking hold. A variety of illnesses are currently spreading quite rapidly through our school, and the town, so if your child is sick, please keep them at home until you think they have passed the contagious period.

We often also see students starting to exhibit behaviours that may not be the norm for them. People find it harder to manage challenging or difficult situations when tired, as the part of the brain responsible for planning, self-control and focus works less. This is the time of the term when sleep should be a priority, so that making good decisions, managing feelings and paying attention comes easier.

Term 3 Conferences - next week

Conferences are being held on Tuesday the 15th from 4-7pm. These are a great opportunity to get an update of your child’s progress so far in this second semester, as well as looking to set some goals for the remainder of the year. Bookings are still available through Compass.

There are some teachers that will not be available, and bookings can fill up. If you would like to talk to a staff member who you aren't able to meet with on Tuesday, please make sure you send them an email.

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey (PCGOS)

This survey closes next Friday. Thank you to those that have already completed the survey. We really want to hear from as many parents as possible, to ensure we have data to show us the areas that need to be worked on next year. At the time of writing, we have had a total of 23 responses from 108 families, or a total response rate of 21%. Last year, we had 51 responses, so we are nearly half way there if we want to beat that result!

Please make sure you save the date for our Term 4 end of year Awards Ceremony. Being held on Wednesday 16th December, from 10am – 12pm at the Community Centre. More details to come soon.
