Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey (PCGOS)

Safe Movement in the Yard and Corridors

We continue to remind students that pushing and shoving (even when playful) can quickly become unsafe. These small actions can lead to discomfort, breach personal boundaries, or escalate into unintended harm. Staff are supporting students to make safer choices and move respectfully through shared spaces.

To keep expectations clear, we are using our whole‑school response when pushing or shoving occurs:

• Initial supervision — A short, supervised period during recess and lunch with a conversation about safe choices, along with the incident recorded on Compass for communication.

• Second incident — Follow‑up from the Student Engagement Leader, supervised recess/lunch, restorative conversation, and a phone call home.

• Third incident — Phone call home, parent meeting, and two days of supervised recess/lunch.

• Continued behaviour — Additional supports with families, which may include targeted wellbeing strategies or a formal behaviour plan.

   

We appreciate families reinforcing these messages at home. A quick reminder about gentle play and keeping hands to ourselves helps students make thoughtful choices and keeps our yard and corridors calm and safe.

Senior School Dates

VCE Unit 3&4 School Exams

Our Unit 3&4 School Exams will be held throughout the coming week (Week 10). All students completing Unit 3&4 subjects are required to attend their scheduled school/practice exams. If a student needs to reschedule an exam or is unexpectedly absent, they have been asked to email Ms Stimson, Ms Adams and Ms Brennan so alternative arrangements can be made.

Save the Date - Year 11 Melbourne Camp

The Year 11 Melbourne Experience is a two‑night camp from Wednesday 27th to Friday 29th November, giving students the chance to explore future pathways, spend time together as a cohort, and build confidence ahead of their final year. It also supports rural students who may be considering a move to Melbourne or another large city for further study or work. Over the three days, students will visit universities and TAFEs, look at different accommodation options, learn to navigate public transport, and explore key Melbourne landmarks along with a range of group activities. Please note Friday 29th November will be the last day of the school year for the Year 11s.

Year 12 End‑of‑Year Dates

End of Formal Classes: Formalclasses for Year 12s conclude on Monday 19 October (Week 3, Term 4) at the end of Period 4. Unit 3&4 classes will continue to run until the day of the subject's exam; we strongly encourage students to continue attending classes until the subject’s exam.

Year 12 End‑of‑Year Assembly: Will be held on Monday 19th October at 2:30pm at the Mount Beauty Community Centre. Parents and Families of Year 12s are invited to attend this annual tradition led by our Year 12 cohort!

Year 12 Celebration & Transition Evening: An evening of activities and food hosted by MBSC staff for the Year 12 students to celebrate their transition beyond secondary school. This will be held for our Year 12s at MBSC after school on Monday 19th October.

Exam Period Commences: Unit 3&4 external VCE exams begin on Tuesday 27th October. A reminder that Unit 3&4 classes will continue until the individual subject’s exam has concluded, and we strongly encourage students to keep attending during this period.
