ROOM 20

Room 20 had a fun and eventful Term 3! We welcomed Ali A to JSA and welcomed Jaafer B back from holiday. We also welcomed Mehwish Khan to our classroom team. We had a very successful excursion to All in Aerial. Our students enjoyed getting active and moving their bodies! Back at school, we have been developing our reading comprehension and writing skills in English and exploring time and making patterns in mathematics. They continue to be creative and inquisitive in visual arts, personal and social capabilities, health and physical education, science and Stephanie Alexander Kitchen & Garden.

ROOM 22

The cat is out of the bag .................. What is taught in Room 22????

The students of Room 22 are embarking on an amazing journey of learning and discovery each and every week! Through engaging and exciting lessons in Current Affairs, students explore the world around them, developing an understanding of world events and the important role they play in our everyday lives. Phonics and spelling activities help strengthen their reading and writing skills, while constructing sentences and expressing age-appropriate ideas encourage confidence in communication. Students also regularly practise, completing employment forms, building valuable skills that will assist them as they prepare for future employment and greater independence. These learning experiences are designed to spark curiosity, encourage participation and make learning both meaningful and enjoyable.

Life skills are an essential part of the Room 22 experience, with students given wonderful opportunities to develop their creativity, independence and practical abilities. Through Art, students learn to express themselves, share their ideas and celebrate their individuality. In the kitchen, they explore the preparation of basic meals, developing the confidence and skills needed to become more independent in everyday life. Their work in the school's garden teaches patience, responsibility and the satisfaction of nurturing something as it grows. Students also play an important role in supporting the school's Recycling Program, learning the value of teamwork, environmental responsibility and contributing positively to their community. By following the school's timetable and the Hume Council roster, students develop a strong work ethic, practise punctuality and learn the importance of being reliable and responsible members of a team.

Among the many valuable subjects taught in Room 22, developing money skills is one of the most important! Students explore the practical world of earning, spending and managing money, learning to recognise the value of money and understand their financial responsibilities. A particularly important question they investigate is, "Am I being paid the correct weekly wage?" Through these activities, students develop greater awareness of wages, workplace expectations and the importance of checking that they have been paid correctly. Alongside these essential skills, students practise listening carefully, following instructions and responding appropriately to the needs and expectations of others within the classroom. All these subjects are introduced in fun, interactive and exciting ways that capture the curiosity of every student. In Room 22, learning is about so much more than the classroom — it is about building confidence, discovering abilities and preparing each student for a more independent, rewarding and successful future.
