Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to Term 4!

Our Middle Sub School students have settled well into Term 4. They have been enjoying the nicer weather and the chance to spend more time learning and playing outdoors.

This term, our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program has plenty for students to try. In the garden, they will be making grass heads, watering plants, pulling out weeds and feeding the worms. It is a chance to get involved in looking after the garden and learn about what plants need to grow.

In the kitchen, tacos, vegan sausage rolls, gingerbread cookies and fruit platters are on the menu. Students will help prepare ingredients, follow recipes and use kitchen equipment with staff support. There will also be opportunities to taste what they have made and share what they liked.

A reminder to please send a labelled broad-brimmed hat each day. We have sunscreen available at school, but if your child has skin or sensory sensitivities, please send in a sunscreen that suits them, clearly labelled with their name, and let their classroom team know.

Thank you to our staff and families for helping students settle into the term.

Warm regards,

Stefania Mantinioto

ROOM 16

Room 16 Learning Adventures!

As we travel into Term 4, Room 16 continue growing and maturing across learning areas. We have continued practising our maths fluency, strengthening our skills with skip counting, repeated addition and multiplication.

During English we have enjoyed reader’s theatre and timed peer fluency sessions. We engage in discussions about who, what, where, how and why events and people feature in stories and reports. Learning how to create a complete sentence from a fragment has supported our spelling, reading and writing skills.

We have practised coding and robotics, celebrated birthdays, loved our kitchen and garden sessions and learnt how to set a table, wash and dry dishes during Living Skills. Now we are looking forward to another Aerial excursion and a trip to Flinders Street Station and Federation Square travelling by train! It has definitely been a year to remember as we form strong friendships and memories. 😊
