World Kindness Day

World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13th November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of nations' kindness NGOs. It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Australia, Nigeria and the United Arab Emrites. Singapore observed the day for the first time in 2009. Italy and India also observed the day.

World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender and location.

KHS celebrated the day with a BBQ, cupcakes, photo booth, kindness notes and small gifts of flowers for staff.

Below is a special thank you from Ms. Masters, who must also be given a huge thanks for organising the day and is someone who always embodies kindness every day.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made World Kindness Day possible.

Special thanks to Uncle Fred for inviting Year 7 Gold to host the event; Simon, Louise and the entire executive team for your unwavering support and backing; Clontarf and NASCA for the delicious BBQ and cupcakes; and the Wellbeing Team for the coffee cart and hot chocolates.

To all the SLSOs and Westy—your dedication was truly the backbone of the day. A special mention also to Bryan and Annette for your IT support and colour prints. Shanay and Hannah, thank you for beautifully capturing the moments through your photography (We look forward to seeing all the photos).  Voni, your stunning flowers added a wonderful touch to the atmosphere. Thank you for getting your class involved. Tiffany, thank you for dreaming up and organising the Kindness Notes, they were a heartfelt and popular addition, and Kim King, thank you for your patience and support with Year 7 Gold.

A huge shoutout to our student helpers and the entire staff for your positivity and encouragement of our young people’s efforts.

Remember, “Kindness is a choice.” Let’s continue to choose kindness and make our school the place to be ❤️. Ms Masters
