Anzac Service
Last Thursday we held our Whole School ANZAC Service in front of the school flagpole.
Our Year 6 student leaders led us through a moving service. We were very happy to welcome 5 ex-servicemen from Kingsgrove RSL who took part in our commemorative service. Mr Barnes spoke to the students about the importance of remembering those who fought to ensure that our country is a free and safe place to live.
Our Year 6 leaders did a great job leading us and all of our students, from K-6, behaved in a very respectful way during our service.
Interschool Chess Tournament
Hurstville Public School participated in an interschool chess tournament against other local private, catholic and public schools on the 9th of March. Ten students represented themselves and our school in a respectful manner with great results. They also displayed resilience and maturity during the tournament towards their opponents. The boys were Chase Li (5C), Adrik Paul (5M), Chester Soon (5D), Eric Chen (6S), Jamie Li (6L), Brayden Lin (6L), Calum Long (6L), Andrew Lu (6L), Adam Sun (6L) and Kai Zheng (6L).
A special congratulations to the following boys who placed individually in the tournament and received a trophy or medal.
Chase Li- 2nd place individual trophy
Andrew Lu – 3rd place individual trophy
Kai Zheng- 4th place individual trophy
Jamie Li- 7th place individual medal
I am pleased to say that after the fantastic effort from all our Hurstville Public School representatives, we won first place overall as a school to win the 1st place trophy. They should all be very proud of themselves. As a result, we have been invited to the semi finals to be held later in the year. Once again, congratulations to all boys involved.
