Stage 2 News

Year 3
Year 3 have had a busy yet wonderful start to the term, settling into routines and showing great enthusiasm for their learning. Students have begun exploring a new class text, Desert Lake by Pamela Freeman, an imaginative and informative book that is sparking curiosity about the natural wonder of Kati Thanda- Lake Eyre. Through this text, they are building their understanding of how information texts are structured, with the goal of creating their own detailed and engaging information reports.
In Mathematics, we have been working hard to strengthen our knowledge of place value, developing confidence in reading, writing and representing numbers in different ways. Alongside our core learning, students have also been enjoying a variety of creative art activities, allowing them to express themselves and build their artistic skills. It has been a fantastic start to the term, and we look forward to continuing this positive momentum in the weeks ahead.
Year 4
The beginning of this term, Year 4 have been focusing on the structure of narrative writing. Students have been learning how to organise their ideas into clear sections, including the orientation (beginning), complication (problem), and resolution (ending). A particular emphasis has been placed on creating engaging “sizzling starts” to hook the reader and developing interesting complication events to build tension in their stories. Included below are a selection of student samples showcasing a variety of creative beginnings and imaginative complications. We are very proud of the effort students have put into experimenting with their writing and developing their storytelling skills.
Students include Elina C., Sophia W., Jackson H., Alisa W., Landon Y., and Ryan Z. from 4P.
