Science Week

Last week during Science Week, the Science faculty ran various lunchtime challenges, competitions and an excursion to celebrate National Science Week. The theme this year was 'Decoding the Universe: Exploring the unknown with nature's hidden language'. On Monday we kicked things off with a staff morning tea. Some cute science themed snacks were shared. Tuesday saw the year 7 and 8 high potential classes headed to GTAC to investigate the link between nutrition and mood. There were two competitions run over the course of the week. The 'guess the number of m&m's in the conical flask' was won by Andrew Huynh (10F) and the daily trivia competition winners were Jed Garcia (11), Mathew Huynh (12C) and Tracy Huynh (12C). During lunchtimes, Science staff ran challenges for the students to do to compete for prizes. On Monday, there was an Escape Room called Destination Moon. On Friday there was some genetic code breaking, but the showstopper was Tuesday's Crime Scene Investigation. With the m&m filled conical flask missing, students had to use the forensic clues left behind to find the culprit!
