We will begin the term with a focus on reviewing the school NORMS and Help Seeking Strategies. The students will have the opportunity to reflect upon their aspirations and achievements from Term 2 and will work on developing Integrity and Resilience. Students will set Term 3 social and emotional goals relating to our school NORMS as well as academic goals.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Curriculum

This term we will be teaching Topic 8: Positive Gender Relationships.

Within this topic students will engage in age-appropriate ways to:

Identify different forms of gender-based violence, including physical, verbal and psychological.
Examine the effects on victim-survivors, witnesses and those who intentionally use violence.
Describe and demonstrate what respectful, gender-inclusive behaviours look like.
Assess situations involving forms of gender-based violence to consider possible responses e.g. refusing to participate or help seeking.
Practise help-seeking strategies that can be used when encountering uncomfortable or unsafe situations
Rehearse and refine strategies for seeking, giving and denying consent respectfully and describe situations where consent is required e.g.borrowing belongings or giving a hug.

Activity 3: Understanding consent in action

Activity 4: Using the No, Go, Tell model

Activity 5: Practising asking for help in response to gender-based violence

Activity 6: Seeking help in tricky situations

Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS)

A significant effort has also been made to promote fair play in the schoolyard. The Year 3 cohort has played an active role in establishing a shared set of rules and expectations for the games commonly played during recess and lunch, including AFL, soccer, basketball, tag, and four square/handball. The finalised rules have been shared with students and are now displayed in classrooms for easy reference.
