TheirCare Staffing Changes
We received the news that team leaders Lara and Bianca will be finishing their time with us tomorrow. While they have been with us for around 12 months, we always like to get to know and support TC team leaders and Lara and Bianca have been very positive people to deal with. Lara is returning to her previous field of hairdressing and Bianca is looking forward to international travel. If you have had interactions with Lara and Bianca, I expect that they too have been positive, so if you have a chance thank them and wish them well.
Inform & Empower Personalities
Karly and Lucas met with a group of ten year 5 and 6 students today for a deep discussion about the digital environment that they find themselves immersed in. This was then followed by a whole year Q&A with our grade 6 team (pictured). The questions from our year 6 students were enlightening, thoughtful, creative and even surprising. The I&E team sought out our collaboration as we have been involved on a whole school basis now for 6 terms and we are just down the road from their Footscray base.

Smile Squad is returning to FWPS next Term
As pinned in Compass last week (and replicated in today’s newsletter under the Coming Up at FWPS page), we are pleased to announce the return of Smile Squad in Term 3. Last year we were unable to host due to our extensive building program. This is a free program for students who attend government schools and is eligible for all students. If this is the best and most convenient option for your child to receive vital dental hygiene assistance, do not miss out in responding by the cut off date of 27th June. (Please note that the initial post - now corrected - listed the return date as 27th July.)
Assembly
Tomorrow it will be 2TN’s turn for their assembly item. The grade are looking forward to their opportunity to present.
We were appreciative of the ‘return of the big screens’ last week featuring 2EP’s slideshow and 2DM’s amazing video, held over from the previous week, both featuring to the pleasure of our audience.
With all but the AFL team playing last week we will feature those teams’ reports.
As is our regular practice, the gates will open after recess to allow students to briefly return to class before moving to the Eagle Gymnasium at 2:40pm, ready for assembly to commence no later than 2:50pm.
Visitors are asked to be seated prior to this time.
Interschool Sports
This week our senior students will compete in a Home fixture against Dinjerra PS. Our AFL team will play Footscray North PS.
Student Learning Conference Bookings
Semester 1 Student Learning Conferences will be held after school over the final fortnight of school term:
Tuesday, 23rd June, 3:40pm – 6:40pm
Please note that conferences for 2BL and 4LT will be held on Monday, 15th June and Tuesday, 23rd June due to Bec and Lauren's part-time employment arrangements.
Parents and carers may choose either an in-person or online meeting.
This year, appointments with Specialist teachers will be limited to one specialist teacher booking per family. This decision reflects the limited number of available appointment times, the need to ensure equitable access, and the priority for Specialist teachers to meet with particular families where required. As these appointments are in high demand, please consider whether there is a specific academic, social or behavioural matter you wish to discuss before making a booking.
Please also note that, unlike previous years, Year 5 and 6 conferences will no longer be student-led presentations. We believe students already have opportunities to showcase their learning through the Term 1 and Term 3 Kids' Share Open Afternoons. Attendance by Year 5 and 6 students is therefore not required, and these conferences will be conducted between teachers and parents/carers only.
Please refer to the pinned post on Compass for all relevant information and ensure bookings are made before:
6:00pm on Sunday 14th June for 2BL and 4LT.
Sibling Photographs
The Parents' Association's initiative, in partnership with our office team, to offer sibling photographs on Tuesday, 16th June has proven very popular. Bookings closed today. If you have booked make sure you don’t overlook your booking time.
Best regards,
Brendan
