Engagement & Wellbeing

Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:
This term, the Year 3/4 students have been exploring Topic 3: Positive Coping as part of our Respectful Relationships program.
Over the past two weeks, students have participated in a variety of engaging games and activities designed to encourage discussions about positive coping strategies. These experiences have helped students deepen their understanding that everyone responds to challenges differently and that our similarities and differences should be valued.
Throughout these lessons, students have also been developing a range of practical strategies to help them manage stress, regulate their emotions, and respond positively when faced with difficult situations. By building these skills, we are supporting students to become more resilient, confident, and emotionally aware.
As we settle back into Term 3, our Grade 5/6 students have been revisiting all of our school values to help set themselves up for a successful term. A particular focus has been on Respect, with students exploring what it looks like in our classrooms, around the school, and in their interactions with others.
‘Respect looks like not talking when other people are’ – Tilly W
‘Playing with new people the yard is showing resilience’ – Kaitlyn T
‘Resilience is when you give things a go, it’s ok if it doesn’t work out the first time’ – Maeve M
‘Resilience is learning from your mistakes’ – Clara M
'Respect is treating people how you want to be treated’ – Olivia P
‘Resilience is like this quote from my gym, If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve already got’ – Eloise M
SRC Update
Spending Our Fundraising
Last term, our SRC put together an impressive list of ideas for how to spend the money raised through fundraising this year. After some fantastic discussion, they narrowed their ideas down to three exciting options: a school mural, an outdoor table tennis table, or a pickleball area.
Every student then had the opportunity to vote by placing a token into our specially designed voting box.
The winning choice was... an outdoor table tennis table!
All of the money raised so far, along with the funds from the SRC's remaining fundraising initiatives throughout 2026, will go towards purchasing this exciting new resource for our school community.
Fundraising
This term, the SRC has planned two exciting fundraising events to help us reach our goal:
- Dress-Up Day (gold coin donation)
- Donut Day, including individual donuts for students and optional take-home packs for families.
The theme for our Dress-Up Day is:
Dress as a Spring Gully Primary School teacher or as your future career.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone's creative costumes!
More information about both fundraising events will be shared with families soon.
Lunchtime Sports Club
The SRC's Lunchtime Sports Club has been a huge success!
The club will continue to run fortnightly, with junior and senior students alternating each session. Our next sporting focus is basketball, and we can't wait to see everyone on the court!
Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
So far we have collectively read 195 books. Keep up the great work everyone!
If you are yet to start your Challenge from home, I look forward to seeing more logged books appear in the next few weeks!
Happy reading everyone.
