Girls & Boys AFL

Maffra SC recent school football matches were a fantastic display of talent, determination, and teamwork from all students involved. From the opening whistle to the final moments of each game, players showed great enthusiasm and commitment on the field.

Students demonstrated impressive football skills throughout the matches, including strong passing, clever strategies, solid defending, and excellent goalkicking. Many players stepped up with confident performances, supporting one another and working together to create exciting plays. Their effort during training and practice was clearly reflected in the quality of the games.

One of the highlights of the event was the outstanding sportsmanship shown by all teams. Players encouraged teammates, respected referees’ decisions, and showed kindness and respect toward their opponents. Win or lose, students displayed positive attitudes and represented the school with pride.

Teamwork played a major role in the success of the matches. Students communicated well, trusted each other on the field, and showed how cooperation can lead to strong performances. It was wonderful to see players celebrating each other’s achievements and supporting one another through every challenge.

A special congratulations goes to all students who participated. Their hard work, persistence, and dedication made the games enjoyable for everyone watching. The effort shown by every player was truly commendable and reflected the values of our school community.

Thank you to Ms.Tancred, Mr.Evans and Mr.Ronalds for supporting and coaching teams, also thank you to the families, and supporters who attended. A big congratulations to Archie Conway and Nate Hare for coaching Year 7 Boys, even with 2 less players on the field the boys never dropped their heads and came off field with positive attitudes. A huge thank you to Tyrion Farmer, Mitchell Hood, Archie Fulford and Darcy Hanson for goal umpiring and running boundary, we appreciate your school spirit and representation of school values.

The Year 8 Boys had a big win over Kurnai, kicking 10 goals. Multiple students contributed to the score with goals from James Hart, Logan Powell, Kodi Ratten, Levi Veentra, Rylan Meadows, James Bransdon, Kryton Taiapa-Tama, Lachie Marshall.

 

The Junior girls had a great day out, Jacinta Schoenmaekers , Darcy Adams and Georgia Robinson were strong in the backline, while Jasmine Howden kicked a couple of goals in the forward, Ella Hare, Caitlyn Dingwall, Harper Parsons, Chelsea Smit ran hard, overall the team all did their jobs and supported one another.

 

The Senior boys, lost half their team to VM camp, but with support of class mates was able to produce a team. It was great to see our Senior boys out on the ground enjoying their last year of AFL. There were some first time players with Romi Burt, Jhon Joromat and Tyson Rykwyk. Jaxon Marshall and Jaxon Patmore hit the goals on the score board. Ned Conway showed great skills covering a lot of ground on the oval. Big thank you to Jaret Miller for all his help with the team and trainings.

 

The Senior and Intermediate girls combined to make the Senior girls team. They had a slow start against CCS but come back only going down by a goal. Against Lavalla, Maffra was up for most of game before Lavella come back and took victory by 2 points. The team showed great pressure around the ball, Summer Harbour was outstanding with great field coverage, Lara Dowsett had bursts of speed threw packs, there were multiple goal scorers in Shayla Walsh, Holly Schaefer, Zara Smith, Summer Harbour and Lara Dowsett. Charlotte Nikolajew, Lacey Bowker and Ameila Koolen were strong in defence. It was great to see young talented players in Lily Appleton, Chelsea Hanna, Hannah Schaefer, Molly Delaney, Chani Aust and Shayla Walsh. I look forward to watching their growth in future years.
