Wellbeing and Inclusion

Thank You to Our Wellbeing & Inclusion Team
As always, we extend our deepest thanks to our incredible Wellbeing and Inclusion team for their tireless dedication to every student at Lyndale Secondary College. Their commitment to ensuring that each and every student feels safe, supported, and truly included in our school community is something we never take for granted.
This week, we recognise World Education Support Staff Day, and it is a particularly meaningful celebration for our team, because every single member of the Wellbeing and Inclusion team is an Education Support staff member. Without their expertise, compassion, and boundless passion for their work, we simply would not be able to provide the wide range of supports we offer our learners.
Their contributions span so much more than the classroom. From tirelessly supporting our community through food relief at our school pantry, to helping families and parents navigate challenges, to advocating fiercely for our students' wellbeing and learning needs — they show up every day with heart. We are so fortunate to have them, and we thank them wholeheartedly.
A reminder to all families that our Wellbeing and Inclusion team is always here should you need support. If you have any concerns about your child or would like to connect with a member of our team, please don't hesitate to contact the school office and ask directly for Wellbeing or Inclusion. We are always happy to help.
IDAHOBIT Day — Celebrating Inclusion at Lyndale
This week also marked IDAHOBIT Day, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia, and our Wellbeing team put together a wonderful event for students to recognise and celebrate the day. Students came together to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community, reflect on the importance of inclusion and belonging, and celebrate the diversity that makes our school community so strong. It was a vibrant and meaningful occasion, and a wonderful reminder of the values we hold at Lyndale: that every student deserves to feel seen, respected, and celebrated for exactly who they are. A big thank you to the team for creating such a welcoming and joyful space for our students.
Blue EDGE Program
At the start of Term 2, a group of Lyndale students began their journey participating in the Blue EDGE program, which will run every Friday for the remainder of term. Delivered by Blue Light Victoria in partnership with police and emergency services, the Blue EDGE program combines fun fitness with hands-on workshops to build fitness, connection and leadership skills. As part of their first session, our students were challenged to work in teams, using dry spaghetti and tape to construct the tallest possible structure that would balance a marshmallow on top.
Reconciliation Action Plan
In April we published our College Reconciliation Action Plan for the next 12 months.
Our vision for reconciliation is a culturally inclusive and responsive learning environment, where reconciliation is not just a word, but a shared purpose. We are dedicated to listening, learning, and working alongside the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to embed their perspectives, truths, and cultural practices into every aspect of school life from classrooms to events.

Partners in Parenting
Are you concerned about your teen's mental health? Partners in Parenting is an evidence-based, online program designed to help parents and carers build skills and confidence in supporting their teenager’s mental health.
More than 5,000 families across Australia and the UK have already benefitted from the program, and researchers at Monash University want to give more families in the community access to the program. To do this, they're conducting a research trial comparing two different versions of the program. Both versions include the same online program, providing parents with evidence-based parenting strategies. The program is free to join, and parents will receive e-gift vouchers for each follow-up survey they complete.
