Message from Bev and Kim

Esme and Nicola

As we move beyond the halfway point of Term 2, it has been wonderful to see students continuing to engage so positively in their learning. While it has certainly been a busy term, there has also been much to celebrate across our school community.

Congratulations to our District Cross Country team on an outstanding achievement as Aggregate Winners for 2026. This is a fantastic reflection of the commitment, perseverance and sportsmanship shown by all students involved. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school throughout the event.

The Division Cross Country Carnival also took place this week. Congratulations to the following students on their participation and achievements at division level:

Vivi F, Harper M, Charlie J, Zeppy Z, Claudia L

National Reconciliation Week

This week, our school community is recognising National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation (Reconciliation Victoria)

At BBPS, Reconciliation is proudly one of our school values, introduced by our SRC in previous years as a reflection of the inclusive and respectful community we strive to build together. As part of this year’s recognition, our SRC representatives will be nominating students who consistently demonstrate this value to receive a special Reconciliation armband.

Congratulations to our Grade 3 students on their thoughtful and engaging presentation at last week’s assembly. Their confidence, respect and willingness to share important messages around reconciliation made us incredibly proud.

Healthy habits

As winter illness begins to impact our community, we kindly ask families to keep children at home if they are showing symptoms of illness or are unwell. We are currently seeing increased absences across both students and staff, and your support in helping minimise the spread of illness is greatly appreciated.

Semester One Reports and Parent-Teacher Conferences

Semester One reports will be available via Compass at the end of term. Due to recent statewide industrial action and its extended impact on this reporting cycle, reports this semester will include progression points indicating the extent to which students are demonstrating the expected standards within each Victorian Curriculum learning area, they will not include a full descriptive teacher comment.

We understand written comments are valued by families and appreciate your understanding. Teachers continue to closely monitor and support student learning, and Parent-Teacher Interviews will provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress further.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 9 June from 2:30pm–5:00pm, with an additional session offered, as nominated by the classroom teacher.

To make a booking, access times via Compass Conferences, opening tomorrow:

  1. Log into Compass
  2. Select the “Conferences” tab
  3. Choose your preferred time
  4. Confirm your booking

We kindly ask families to select from the available times provided, as teachers will not be available for additional conferences outside these scheduled sessions. We thank you for respecting their time and our school procedures.

Prep Enrolments 2027 are now open. Families can access enrolment information and forms via our school website. For details, see Enrolments tab of this newsletter.

For siblings at home 0-5 years, don't forget to join us for next Friday's monthly Little Listeners in the library - June 5th @ 9:30am.

A special note from Kim: to say thanks for all the excitement, well wishes and support this week as we prepare for Baby no. 3.  We are so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community. We look forward to sharing the news with you in the coming weeks (hopefully not too soon!), and revealing if any of the MANY suggested names from our wonderful BBPS students made the final cut. I look forward to staying connected and watching from afar as our little people grow and learn throughout the remainder of this year, until my official return at the start of 2027. Look after our wonderful staff in my absence, and remember to choose kindness. That's who we are at BBPS.
