ALUMNI Program

The first alumni career insight session of the year for Rheanna Lang's Year 11 and 12 psychology class was a fantastic start. Caroline Evans, a local educational psychologist from Wangaratta, shared her journey and expertise with the students, making it an engaging and informative session. She outlined various career options within psychology and detailed a typical day for an educational psychologist. 

Caroline emphasised the importance of empathy, communication skills, and resilience for success in the field. She encouraged students to get involved in community activities to gain hands-on experience and see if psychology aligns with their interests. 

Caroline also discussed the future of psychology, touching on emerging trends and the evolving nature of the profession. She highlighted the significance of maintaining a healthy work/life balance to prevent burnout. Given that the students have been studying stress this term, Caroline explained how to differentiate between everyday stress and stress levels that require professional support. 

Overall, the session was a great success, providing valuable insights and inspiration for students considering a career in psychology.

Alumni Spotlight: Caroline Evans, Class of 1998

Caroline Evans, a graduate of Wangaratta High School's Class of 1998, had a strong interest in Psychology, English, Legal Studies, and Business during her school years. She actively participated in various WHS sports teams and also contributed to the school magazines. After graduation, she pursued university studies in Psychology and has lived and worked in different parts of Australia, most recently in Darwin. Currently, she resides in Wangaratta with her son Tom and works as an Educational Psychologist.
