WEEK OF CHAMPIONS

This week has seen the success of many St Nicholas School sporting teams. A week to celebrate the talent of our students and the sportsmanship on show.

BASKETBALL

Last week I received an email from Tamworth Basketball acknowledging the sportsmanship of the St Nichs Firebirds. Tamworth Basketball said, "We have discovered that every week they are getting beaten significantly but they are still smiling, learning and having fun - which is exactly what the game is about".

As a team the Firebirds demonstrate the values that we try to instill in all areas of life based on our Living Well Learning Well framework - I am valued, respected and cared for and I am a learner.

The girls received a certificate and a movie voucher.

NETBALL

Our Year 6 St Nichs Strikers team had a fantastic end to their season, winning the 11/12 years A grade grand final 32-23 in a heart-racing match! The team displayed incredible skill and determination, but what truly stood out was their outstanding sportsmanship. They cheered for their opponents, encouraged each other, and showed grace and respect throughout the game. A huge congratulations to the entire team and their coaches for a brilliant season and a well-deserved victory!

DOUG CAMPBELL CUP - RUGBY UNION

This term we have had 36 Year 5 and 6 players competing in the Friday Night Doug Campbell Shield in Rugby Union. Unfortunately there were not many teams from other schools so it was more of a St Nichs vs St Nichs competition. Surprisingly St Nicholas School won the trophy. Thank you to our coaches and parents for supporting the teams.

GALA DAY

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to send just under 180 students to the Western Cluster Gala Day. The weather turned it on for a beautiful day of outdoor competiton. 9 Netball teams and 10 Soccer teams competed against students from Tamworth, Manilla, Barraba, Wee Waa and Narrabri. Congratulations to St Nichs Victory who won the junior soccer and to St Nichs Sparks who won the opens netball. Congratulations to St Nichs Fever who were runners-up in the junior netball and to St Nichs Jets who were runners up in the opens soccer.

Thank you to all the parents who came to help out on the day.

SPORT INFORMATION ON COMPASS

Just a reminder that the majority of sporting opportunities are only on the Compass Portal and hence, we strongly recommend that you check your Compass Portal on a regular basis.

CRICKET TERM 4

In the past, St Nicholas School has organised and entered junior teams into the Saturday morning competition. As of this year, this will no longer be happening. School cricket will now be 'club based' to allow players to move through the ranks into grade cricket.

I am currently compiling a list of Tamworth Cricket Clubs that are available and at this stage there are no preferred clubs for St Nicholas School players.

Registrations are now being taken by clubs throughout the district. Please see the links below for Junior cricket (Years 3-6) and the Woolworths Cricket Blast for Infants children.

POLDING ATHLETICS CARNIVAL SUCCESS
