Principal's Views

The term has started off with some big celebrations …

Term Three has started off well and it’s been really pleasing to see everyone return happy and healthy from holidays.

Celebrating 100 Days of Prep – What a Fantastic Milestone!

We are so excited to celebrate a very special achievement — our Prep students have now completed 100 days of learning, growing, and exploring!

Reaching 100 days of Prep is a big deal. Over these 100 days, our young learners have been developing their skills in reading, writing, numbers, and so much more. They’ve shown our school values of caring, honesty, excellence, respect and responsibility every day.

To celebrate this milestone, our Prep students worked on some wonderful 100 Days Projects, where they creatively explored the number 100 through art, collections, and fun math activities. These projects showcased their creativity and understanding, and we were amazed by their efforts!

Today, each student proudly received a special certificate recognizing their fantastic achievement. The excitement didn’t stop there — many of our Prep children dressed up as 100-year-olds or wore costumes related to the number 100, adding so much fun to the occasion. We are so proud of all our Prep children for their effort and progress.

Thank you to our dedicated teachers and families for supporting our students on this journey.

Principals’ Day

Today the Principal team were treated to an amazing morning tea and lots of treats and balloon filled offices to mark Principals’ Day. The students sent us so many cards and wished us a happy and enjoyable day. I’d like to take a moment to express my thanks to our incredible Assistant Principals for their unwavering dedication, leadership, and support. Their tireless efforts—both behind the scenes and in the day-to-day life of our school—make a lasting difference to our students, staff, and families. Whether they are guiding teams, supporting student wellbeing, or helping shape the vision for our school, their commitment and care help create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all. Thanks to Angela, Jess, Steve and Sophie.

Staffing update

At the end of last term we farewelled Chloe to begin her family leave and Erin took over as the second teacher of 5SC. We said farewell to Kanu and welcomed back Aimee to 2AP.

We thank Jackie T for her service to EVPS over the years and send our best wishes as she steps away from her teaching position to focus on family. We welcome Verona Beasley to the Year 6 team to teach 6JT. A big thank you to James who stepped in for most of Semester one and supported the Year 6 students and team. We thank him for his dedication and commitment.

Mandy continues on leave for Term 3, Jess will continue in my AP role and we welcome Sophie (AP) back from family leave on Mon, Wed & Thurs.

Berry Street Education Model Training — Module 1: Body

On Monday  we had a whole school curriculum day, including Kinder staff. The focus for the day was the Berry Street Education Model which focuses on creating classrooms where every student thrives. The model focuses on building positive relationships and creating supportive learning environments.

The Model is an evidence-led framework designed by educators, that empowers school leaders and teachers to build learning environments where every student feels safe, engaged, and ready to learn. It is a holistic, trauma-informed approach that supports the wellbeing and growth of both students and staff.

By integrating the Berry Street Education Model into our teaching practices, our staff are better equipped to create a nurturing and inclusive school environment. This approach not only supports students’ academic success but also their emotional wellbeing and social development.

For parents and carers, this means your children are learning in a school that values their whole experience and strives to meet their individual needs. It promotes positive behaviours, reduces stress, and helps build confidence and resilience in every child.

We will be completing the other modules over the next 18 months and look forward to continuing this training journey and sharing more about the positive impact it has on our school community.

Epping Road Upgrade – Temporary closure of Lyndarum Drive at Epping Rd

You may have heard that the intersection of Epping Rd and Lyndarum Rd will be closed from 6th August to mid-October. These works are expected to affect traffic flow around the school and are expected to cause delays during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times of up to 20 minutes.  We kindly ask families to allow for extra travel time to ensure students arrive at school safely and on time. Your patience and understanding during this period are greatly appreciated, and we thank you for continuing to prioritise safety and punctuality.

Contact: 1800 105 105 or visit bigbuild.vic.gov.au/roads

To support this we have re-opened the gate on Dunolly St and kindly ask that you respect the parking restrictions in the Kiss & Go zone to help the traffic flow.

Exciting prizes to be won!

The Epping Road Upgrade is giving local schools the chance to win a share in $16,000 worth of prizes and we need your help! Simply shop at participating stores on Lyndarum Drive from 23 August to late October, upload your receipt and your spend will help our school total. There are different prizes for different size schools, so we’ll all be on an even playing field. We’ll keep you posted each week on which schools are leading the charge.
