Mathslympics and Family Maths Night
Yesterday we held our bi-annual Mathslympics and Family Maths night. The students spent the day engaging in a range of maths-based activities and competing for points for their houses. The winners of the Joan’s Cup will be announced at our assembly next week. We followed up the day by welcoming our families to share in our learning in Maths. It was great to see so many families in attendance, and we hope you picked up some new games or ways to share in Mathematics learning at home.
Days like these would not be possible without our amazing staff who were very ably led by Mr Mark Condon. This event takes a long time to plan and requires our teachers to devise new activities and games that will engage our students. It is also an opportunity for our students to work with and be supported by students in other year levels. We enjoyed watching our amazing students work collaboratively to solve challenges they faced throughout the day.
Book Week
We had a fantastic Book Week last week, students participated in a range of learning tasks, celebrating a love of Literacy. The whole school participated in an online writing lesson, led by Josh Pike (world-renowned author and musician). We also celebrated our Book Week Parade in style on the netball court. We were thrilled by the number of students, staff and families who dressed up. All costumes looked amazing! We thank you for the efforts of everyone involved to make it a magical day.
Father’s Day Morning Tea
Tomorrow morning our fabulous PFA volunteers will be holding a Father’s Day Morning Teain our hall, commencing at 7.30am. There will be a variety of food available and Raf’s Coffee van will be on site. If you have time please drop in for a chat and to spend some time with your child/ren.
Planning Week
Next week all of our teachers will be participating in a Term 4 planning day, this means there are changes to our specialist timetable for the week. Students will have all specialist classes on one day next week as follows:
Monday- Year 3
Tuesday - Year 4
Wednesday - Year 1/2
Thursday - Year 5/6
Friday - Foundation
We provide planning days for our teachers every term and this allows for the opportunity to design a collaborative learning plan across all year levels. Next year as part of the new Victorian Government Schools agreement (which is currently being finalised) planning days may be held as curriculum days. Curriculum days will be increasing from 4 to 8 days. Dates for these will be set prior to the end of the year and passed through the School Council. Once approved, dates will be shared with our community.
Sun Protection Policy
We support staff and students to use a combination of sun protection measures when UV index levels are 3 or above (generally the middle of August to the end of April in Victoria).
All students must wear a sun protective hat (such as a broad-brimmed, legionnaire or bucket hat) that shades the face, neck and ears for all outdoor activities. Hats may also be worn for all outdoor activities outside of the August to April time period, by parent or student choice.
Enrolments
We are reaching the time of year where we commence planning for 2027. Please note 2027 Foundation student enrolment forms were due several weeks ago, if you have a child commencing school in 2027, please bring your forms to the office as soon as possible. We are also asking any current Year 4 parents to advise if their child will be transitioning to Braemar College in 2027. This information allows us to commence planning for staffing, class sizes and programs on offer.
