Brimbank Tech School - Father and Son Session
Brimbank Tech School is proud to present Build & Bond Day, a unique father and son technology challenge designed to bring families together through teamwork, creativity and a little healthy competition.
With Father's Day just around the corner, there is no better way to celebrate than by spending quality time together while exploring some of the most exciting technologies shaping our future.
Proud Supporters of Movember, we are creating an afternoon where dads and sons step away from the everyday and work side-by-side through a series of exciting STEM challenges.
What to Expect
Teams will rotate through four high-energy challenge stations:
🤖 Robotics Race - Build, program and race a robot against the clock.
🚁 Drone Hover Challenge - Pilot, build and outscore the competition.
🥽 VR Escape Room - Work together to solve puzzles where communication is everything.
✨ AI Design Challenge - Create and pitch a future invention powered by artificial intelligence.
Each challenge earns points, with teams climbing a live leaderboard throughout the event. At the end of the afternoon, prizes will be awarded to the highest-scoring teams.
Why Build & Bond?
This event isn't just about technology. It's about:
- Working as a team
- Communicating under pressure
- Solving problems together
- Celebrating strengths
- Creating shared experiences
Many of the skills that make great engineers, innovators and leaders are the same skills that strengthen relationships.
Through every challenge, dads and sons will need to trust each other, listen to each other and work together to succeed.

Easing into adolescence: resources for families
The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).
The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:
- a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
- how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.
Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.
For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
