NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. All students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

The tests provide parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests.

NAPLAN tests also provide schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are meeting important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

If your child regularly utilises adjustments in their classroom, it may be possible for these to be used.

Staff have been familiarising students with the online site and format of the tests. A Public demonstration site provides sample tests should you wish to gain an insight into what the students will undertake.

Testing begins next Wednesday. The following schedule will be followed:

HOUSE SWIMMING

Well done to all students who competed at the House Swimming Carnival two Fridays ago! It was fantastic to see such great participation across all events and the wonderful House spirit on display. A special thank you to Henry Lanyon for managing all the data entry — a huge task that he handled exceptionally well. We also sincerely thank the Parents Club for running the BBQ, staff for their support throughout the day, and all parents and friends who came along to cheer on the students.
