Our Year 8 students recently enjoyed an incredible three-day Resilience Camp, packed with fun, challenge and personal growth. Throughout the camp, students participated in a wide range of activities including a scenic boat ride, raft making, bike riding, and stand-up paddle boarding, each designed to build teamwork, confidence and resilience.
A highlight of the camp was the engaging sessions run by the Reach Foundation, where students explored important topics around connection, identity and wellbeing in a supportive and interactive environment.
Students also took on shared responsibilities within their groups, setting up and cleaning up after meals, which were a standout, delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all! One of the most memorable moments was the dress-up night, where both students and staff embraced the fun and created a fantastic atmosphere.
A huge thank you to our amazing staff for their support and enthusiasm throughout the camp. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see our students step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and have so much fun along the way.

Despite a very wet and rainy week, it has been fantastic to see that the weather hasn’t dampened our students’ spirits. Classrooms have remained full of energy, laughter, and positivity, with students continuing to engage in their learning and activities with big smiles on their faces. It’s been wonderful to see such resilience and enthusiasm, proving that even grey skies can’t stop a great week at school!

Year 8 students have completed their final Metalwork lesson, creating their own metal toolboxes. Using measuring skills, tin snips, and a press brake, students carefully cut and shaped their metal before using a spot welder to join the pieces together. The project required precision, patience, and safe use of tools, with students proud to take home their finished toolboxes. Next term, students will build on these skills as they move into woodwork.

Jesse has been hard at work in Woodwork, creating this beautifully finished timber piece featuring a detailed engraved design and personalised lettering. From planning and measuring through to shaping and finishing, this project highlights both skill and patience.
It’s fantastic to see students taking such pride in their work and producing items they can truly be proud of. Well done, Jesse—an awesome result!

A huge congratulations to Raiven, Mahlia and Alanis, who are about to become paid and published authors!!! These three students entered short stories to the “Minds Shine Bright” writing competition last year, and have all been shortlisted for their stories on the theme of ‘Places’. Their stories, titled Home, The Oaks of Me and The Stars of our Journey will soon appear in an anthology (a collection) of the shortlisted entries. We are incredibly proud of your achievements, congratulations!
The competition organisers are now looking for artwork for the cover of their anthology, so if anyone is interested in entering a piece for the ‘Places’ themed competition, follow this link: Young Illustrators’ Places Competition.
As Term 1 comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a busy and rewarding start to the year. Students have settled into their routines, embraced new challenges, and created many positive memories along the way. It has been wonderful to see their growth, resilience, and enthusiasm both in and out of the classroom. We wish all students and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 2!
