It has been a busy and exciting term starting way back on Thursday 29th January. There has been camp, laptop roll-outs and NAPLAN. For the students, there has been a totally new environment to get used to, new timetables, new subjects and new friends and teachers to meet. Overall, 7D have met these challenges with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

In English this term, we have focused on reading, comprehension and creative writing. The students have brainstormed descriptive words by looking at unusual pictures and going to the swamp to use as inspiration for a writing piece. They have looked at literary devices such as metaphors, similes, foreshadowing, and also sentence structures (such as predicate and subject), grammar and punctuation. The students each created a narrative of their own choice, using the Writing Cycle, as a prelude to the Writing CAT. Last Friday 27th March, the students submitted their first CAT.

WOODWORK
Students designed and created their own pencil cases in woodwork, developing skills in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials. They showed creativity and persistence as they refined their designs and proudly completed their finished projects.

HUMANITIES
7D have been learning mapping skills, including how to read maps, use symbols and scale, and locate places using grid references. This has helped them better understand how maps represent the world.

MATHS
7D have been learning the order of operations, using the correct sequence (BODMAS) to solve calculations accurately. They have practised applying this to a range of problems to build confidence and precision in their maths skills.
