Attendance notes

At Kalinda, ensuring accurate attendance records is an important part of keeping our students safe, supported, and part of our accountability to the Department of Education. From time to time, you may receive an attendance note from the office asking you to provide a reason for a past absence. We appreciate your support in responding to these requests promptly.

A gentle reminder that if your child arrives late or needs to leave early, there is a simple two-step process to follow:

  1. Parents/carers enter the reason on Compass, providing short detail about the late arrival or early departure.
  2. Parents/carers also report to the school office when arriving or leaving. Our office team will record the time and provide your child with a late arrival or early leaver’s card to share with their teacher, confirming everything has been documented.

If one of these steps is missed, the system may record the absence as unexplained. We understand that mornings and afternoons can be busy times, and we truly appreciate your efforts in helping us keep our records accurate.

If you need a trusted family or friend to pick up your child, please ensure this is noted on Compass otherwise, our office may call you to confirm those arrangements. This can be tricky or awkward for Nan or Pa or Great Uncle Dave when they've been entrusted with picking up your child so please help us with this step.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our students.
