What's happening around our school...
In Prep, we are continuing to develop our understanding of letters and the sounds they represent. Students are learning to use their “phoneme fist” to identify individual sounds in words, as well as blending sounds to support their spelling. We are also beginning to practise writing simple sentences.

Our Grade 1/2 students recently enjoyed a fun and engaging visit from Healthy Harold as part of the “Growing Good Friends” incursion. Through interactive activities and discussions, students explored what it means to be a good friend, how to show kindness and respect and the importance of including others. The session encouraged students to think about their own actions and how they can help create positive, supportive friendships both in and out of the classroom.
It was a fantastic learning experience and the students especially loved spending time with Harold

Patches of Pride
On Friday afternoons our grades are given time to work on our ‘Patches of Pride’ areas located in the school grounds. Each grade has been allocated an area:
In the photos below, you will see that during this activity students were able to pick up litter, pull weeds, prune brushes, tidy up around their classroom building and discover a range of different insects.
We are proud to announce that at the last assembly 3/4DS and 3/4M who share a zone for ‘Patches of Pride’ won the golden shovel!

Our 5/6 students have had a busy and exciting middle of the term! They showed great teamwork and sportsmanship during Gala Days, proudly representing our school and giving their best effort across all events. We also came together as a community to support Hoodies for Autism Day, promoting awareness, inclusion and understanding.
Our Year 5 students approached NAPLAN with a positive mindset, demonstrating resilience and persistence, while our Year 6 students took part in a Camp Maths Challenge, applying their problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way.
Back in the classroom, students have been working hard to improve their fluency across reading and maths, while also learning about the importance of sleep and how it supports their learning, wellbeing and overall health.
We are proud of the way our 5/6 students continue to challenge themselves, support one another and make the most of every opportunity!

Thumb pots everywhere!!
Many of the classes are using clay to create amazing pieces this Term.
The Prep students have rolled a slab and pressed their initials and other interesting textures into it.
The Grade 1 and 2 students formed a thumb pot to create a bird. They have learned the “scratch and slip” method of joining and used this to add wings, eyes and a beak. We have painted these in fluoro colours and are going to add pipe cleaner legs and beads this week.
The Grade 5 and 6 students have turned their thumb pots into monsters. The two pots must be able to stand independently, fit onto each other, and demonstrate correct joining techniques. We added underglaze, and some chose a glossy coat, too. They’re such characters!
