Y7 Girls Cricket - State Runners Up! 🏏

Congratulations to our amazing Year 7 Girls Cricket team who were victorious through the regional pathway to qualify for the State Finals, culminating in the State Runners-Up achievement! Each game in the finals was Junior Formats Stage 1 T20 matches.

First up was a big road trip to Bendigo for the Quarter-final against St Joseph’s Echuca.

Our team batted first and did a fantastic job, particularly with the intent to score and running between the wickets.

We then defended the total comfortably with the ball, taking plenty of wickets. The fielding was outstanding, with high quality catches and multiple direct-hit runouts.

Next was the State Semi Final & Grand Final, both played on Thursday November 28 in Northcote.

Our Semi Final was against Dromana Secondary College. We set a good total with the bat, with plenty of runs to defend. Again, our bowling and fielding was to a high standard which led to a great victory.

The Grand Final was played directly after, lining up against a quality Norwood Secondary College side. Once again, we batted first but were up against it facing some strong bowling. After a tough start with the bat, we bounced back well in the next innings, putting the pressure on by taking some wickets.

However, it was not enough, with Norwood taking the win. Our team showed plenty of spirit and fought hard to the end of the game.

Special mention to our co-captains Annabel Pietsch and Lily Vasic that led the team so well.

Our team was so committed to training and were able to get amazing results from their hard work and dedication. Very proud of the team and their achievements!
