Farewell Message - Peggy Oberthier
It has been a privilege to serve as the Student Wellbeing Coordinator and as a secondary Humanities teacher at THS for the last seven years. During my time I’ve had the honour of working alongside talented sub-school teams, dedicated wellbeing colleagues and passionate classroom teachers and education support staff. I have worked with a supportive leadership team and collaborated with many committed professionals from the regional office and external agencies.
A central element of my role has involved many hours on the phone with concerned parents and guardians, which provided me with timely insights into the appreciation that the broader THS community has for our school’s commitment to student wellbeing.
Our primary objective in Wellbeing has been to help students feel seen, understood and then to advocate for their needs in the community and in the classroom. While the job has been extremely challenging at times, the highlight for me has been receiving the feedback of grateful students who felt supported both at home and at school during and following stressful episodes in their lives.
Your support of Wellbeing has assisted me and my dedicated colleagues in supporting many students to navigate their challenges and help them grow into resilient, capable individuals. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of such a caring school community.
Warm regards,
Peggy Oberthier
