FOUNDATION NEWS
Term 4 has begun with some fantastic writing from our Foundation students. We have been focusing on sentence writing skills while enjoying and responding to poetry. Inspired by recent weather, we have shared a range of 'rain' themed poems and written sentences to describe our observations of rain.
As scientists, we have begun learning about using the 5 senses to observe weather and seasons, particularly in our local environment.
This week, the Foundation children enjoyed their first school swimming session. Thank you to families for your support with this program, we look forward to seeing everyone's progress in swimming skills and confidence this term!
YEAR ONE NEWS
Year 1 students have made a fantastic start to the term, jumping straight back into our literacy program! Each morning, students begin with 10 minutes of independent reading before coming together for our whole-class phonics lesson. We then put our learning into practice through fun and engaging activities linked to the sounds and spelling patterns we are exploring. It has been wonderful to see students settling back into their routines and building their reading and spelling skills!
So far this term, we have been learning about contractions and the trigraph ‘ear’, as in hear and near.
