Welcome Back to Term 4!
We kicked off Term 4 with two special days designed to engage and inspire our students for the busy term ahead!
ThinkSquared Mathematics
Last Wednesday, we welcomed Andrew from ThinkSquared, who shared some of his engaging and creative maths games with our students. Andrew is a passionate educator and inventor who creates unique ways to inspire a love of mathematics. Our students enjoyed the opportunity to explore maths in a hands-on and engaging way, developing their mathematical thinking while having fun! If you would like to explore some of the games yourself, you can find them on the ThinkSquared website: https://thinksquare.com.au/games/
Amazing Animal Adaptations with Ecolinc
On Thursday, our students participated in an Amazing Animal Adaptations incursion presented by Ecolinc. The session explored how animals adapt to survive in their habitats and biomes, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between an animal’s features and its environment. Students investigated the difference between structural adaptations, which are physical features that help animals survive, and behavioural adaptations, which are the ways animals act to meet their needs and survive in their environment.
A highlight of the session was the opportunity to get up close to some fascinating creatures, including a green tree frog, a blue-tongue lizard and a stick insect. Students also examined real taxidermized animals, identifying their structural features and discussing how these adaptations help them survive in their natural habitats.
