Year 2

A Wonderful Day at the Royal Botanic Gardens
Under a beautiful sunny sky, our Year 2 students hopped on the bus for an exciting adventure to the city on Wednesday 21 November! We began with morning tea on the lush lawns before visiting the Shrine of Remembrance, where we saw the red poppies and Eternal Flame and discussed the significance of Remembrance Day.
At the Royal Botanic Gardens, we marvelled at the oldest tree, estimated to be 300 years old, and the tallest tree, reaching almost 50 metres! We also spotted a pond covered in lily pads and a protective black swan watching over her cygnets nearby. The peaceful gardens were filled with the magical sounds of nature.
After enjoying lunch on the beautiful lawns, the children took part in a gardening workshop led by a facilitator. Working in three groups, they planted a little plant to take home and created fragrant potpourri.
Our Year 2 students were a credit to the school, demonstrating wonderful behaviour and curiosity throughout the day. It was a memorable excursion filled with discovery, creativity and learning beyond the classroom!
