Division Volleyball
16 Year 6 students qualified to compete at the Monash Waverley Division Volleyball event on Wednesday 14 October at The Rings Maroondah Leisure Centre in Ringwood.
I was lucky enough to be part of the boys’ volleyball team who played on the 14th October in the Division competition. We turned up strong and finished strong. Out of the seven games played we successfully won six. Unfortunately, in our game against Mount View PS we lost 2-3 sets, placing us runners up but we didn’t qualify for the Region event. I am proud of how we all played and we are thankful to Miss Kemp and Ms Hocking for all their support and coaching. Overall, we had a great day and I’m thankful for the chance.

On the 14th of October we competed in the Division volleyball finals at The Rings Basketball Stadium in Ringwood. Through the whole day we tried our absolute best and had so much fun. Although we didn’t win many matches, we gained many friendships and stayed resilient. We are proud that we made it this far and that we represented Essex Heights. I’d like to thank Ms Hocking for coaching the girls’ team at Division and a special thank you to Miss Kemp for being there from the start and helping us make it this far.

Division Hot Shots Tennis
20 Year 6 students qualified for the Monash Waverley Division Hot Shots Tennis finals on Tuesday 20 October at Tally Ho Tennis Club in Mount Waverley.
I’m one of the people who went to interschool sport Hot Shots Tennis competition. I’m incredibly proud to represent Essex Heights after a fantastic day at interschool sport Hot Shots competition. We started strong with a dominate 8 sets to 4 win against Oakleigh Primary School, before fighting through a tough loss against Huntingtower, we then tied 6 sets all in a nail-biting game against Mount View but just missed out on the win by a few points. We bounced back to defeat Jells Park 7 sets to 5 overall placing third. Thank you to Ms Hocking and Miss Kemp for running the competition.
Maggie – Year 6
I’m one of the nine boys who competed in the Division Hot Shots Tennis competition. Our first match was against Mount Scopus where we tied 6 sets all but sadly lost by 3 points. But we pushed through and won all our other matches, beating Mount Waverley Heights, Oakleigh, Brandon Park, Pinewood and Parkhill Primary Schools. We lost our match against Mount View PS which placed us third overall. I had a great time and I’d like to thank Ms Hocking and Miss Kemp for organising the event and making the day fun.
